The Forests of cape town, are an asset to the city,- not a problem to be cleared! Its a new xenophobia, like Apartheid wasn't bad enough. Now many want all foreigners off the mountain,- invader or not! Now its the trees and our plantation forests. Obviously Harvesting is integral to the planting. But keep some for the people and replant after harvest.
You should hammer nails into random trees and then inform the fellers that you have done so. No tree feller will use their equipment to saw and strip the trees, neither will any saw mill risk putting a tree through their factory with a high probablitly that there are nails in it that can damage their equipment. If you cant sell the trees, then it is no longer a feasible project.

You people are giving conservation a bad name. The above comment about the nails in the tree is irresponsible and stupid. Also the entire coolforests website comes across as bleeding heart liberal and it is not surprising that there has been no activity on it since 2007.
Perhaps if you included some CREDENTIALS to show that you actually know what you are talking about, cut out the emotional and sarcastic comments you might actually do some good instead of simply bitching about the situation.
I think you have a potentially valuable idea in the use of pine trees to block out invaders like PJ and wattle and help foster the bush and if you approached the authorities in an adult fashion you might make a difference. But until then, you should give yourself a good hard think.
